Track Regional Finals

A few of my track photos from the weekend... I've been having a hard time shooting track lately and I finally felt like I got some good stuff. :-)

Horse

I was coming back from an assignment and drove by this amazing Arabian horse and had to stop and take a photo. It's actually my cousin's horse and I utilized photoshop to enhance it. I'm going to have a print made for her... :-)

Memorial Day

Cute Kid + American Flag + Period Clothing = Adorable feature. :-) I love his Freckles!

This is a typical Memorial Day shot that I take every year, but I still liked it. :-)

And here is a new view of the Big Four. It's amazing how many different ways you can photograph this bridge. I took this while waiting for the 21 gun salute to take place.

Bored at a Graduation

And this is what happens when you are bored at a graduation... you take random photos of shadows cast by trophies... I took this at Fort Loramie during their 25 minute Senior Slide Show...

Graduation

Congratulations Class of 2008! Here are a few shots from "Hell Day"... (9 Graduations, 4 Photographers, 3 Hours...) :-) I can't complain though, it went very smoothly this year...

No Shotgun?!?!?! I wanted a shotgun!

Lesson #8637:  A shotgun start at a golf outing does not mean they will actually be shooting off a shotgun.

So I had to go to the annual Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing on Tuesday...   and underlined on my assignment was "get shotgun start".   Not putting any thought into it, I envisioned in my mind that they would be firing off a shotgun to mark the opening of the event.   Not so much.  A shotgun start is when all the golf carts scramble and go in different directions at the same time.   I'm still laughing at my self about it.   But I really do think they should think about having a real shotgun to start the event next year....  ;-)
Later in the afternoon, I had another cute kid assignment.   Fairlawn's Kindergarten Graduation for the Class of 2020.....     Can you believe they will graduate in 2020!!!  Hard to believe...

Lighting Test...

My Best Fun Shot from Monday...   One of my many random lighting tests...   Taken while driving of course...  :-)

Saturday Sports...

A few images from Saturday's Softball game.  I liked this first one, but I really wish it was raining harder...  :-)
This one pretty much described the last 30 seconds of the game.  At the time, I didn't think I got the shot...  but after going back the office and looking at my photos, I decided this one would work.  Ken loved it, ran it big, and the rest is history... :-)

Saturday...

Ok...   It's time I introduce Sarah, my newest intern.  She is my 10th intern to be exact.  It's hard to believe that I've been at the Sidney Daily News long enough to have had 10 interns!  (Theresa, Jef, Nancy, Leslie, Brad, Stefanie, Anna, Katie, Chris, and Sarah...)   Anyway...  Sarah is awesome and I'm excited that I will get the chance to work with her this summer!

Saturday was sort of a crazy run around day.  Nothing too exciting happened (besides me destroying yet another cell phone which required me buying a new one before my plan was up...  Long story... don't ask...).  I did make it over to a 4-H Horse show and took this photo of a horse with a creepy blue eye....    :-)

Long Day, Slow Shutter

Another Friday gone...   And boy what a long day it was.    Early assignments had me at work by 8:30 am, and for anyone who knows me... That's Early!   But it was a good thing...  Because right before I walked out the door to go to my first assignment, I was told that there was an arrest in the murder case we have been following, and we would need to be in court by  9:30 and then to a press conference at 10:30.  It is now 12:18 Saturday morning and I'm slowly slipping into Zombie mode.

I'm posting two photos, nothing too exciting, but I was playing with slow  shutter speeds at a youth relay for life event today, this was the best I could come up with for today.  :-)

First Post!!! (Finally....) :-)

First Post... Wow! I'm finally blogging! (Anna, you can now finally quit bugging me about it... ;-)  I've been threatening to start this for some time now, but never was motivated enough to make that first entry...  Until today.   Why? you may ask...    Well, two reasons.  1. I had a fun random photo to post, and 2. my Summer Intern Sarah started her internship today and we decided to both start blogs.  :-)

With the exception of a new intern, Today was any ordinary day at the Sidney Daily News.  I started with thinking I had absolutely no assignments, and by 9:30 am I had calls and txt messages informing me I had something at JVS 10:30, a cute kid thing at 1:30, and a long 2-hour awards program at 7pm.  Throw in a random building shot, and a softball and a baseball game at 5pm (at two different schools) and it turned out to be a fairly normal busy day.

As for my fun random photo...  This was taken while at my 1:30 assignment. Sarah and I had photographed kids participating in an Olympic themed festival at a local pre-school for about a half an hour before the kids had to go back to their classrooms before "closing ceremonies".  We headed to the office to ID some photos and while I stayed behind to finish getting the info, I sent Sarah back down to the gym to see if there would be anything else interesting to shoot.  Well, I missed the entire closing ceremony, but afterward, one of the classes stayed behind to take group photos with the flowers they made.  The next thing that followed was a cute kid overload. :-)   I grabbed my long lens and began shooting from across the room.  After getting my feature for the day, I snapped this image as the kids were leaving the gym...  and I liked it.  :-)
